BATON ROUGE – Beginning this week, notices are being mailed to all Department of Revenue corporate accounts in order to provide them with copies of their Louisiana Revenue Account Number.
“The Louisiana Revenue Account Number is required to be included on all tax documents, payments, and correspondence to the Louisiana Department of Revenue,” says Revenue Secretary Cynthia Bridges. “Failure to include the account number can delay posting to the account, which in turn may lead to the issuance of erroneous bills to the taxpayer.” Bridges says omitting the account number can be viewed as negligence on the part of the taxpayer. “Omission not only delays processing of the account, but also adds to the Department’s cost of processing.”
Bridges points out that the current notification will be in duplicate format so the recipient can provide a copy of the account number to their paid tax preparer, if that is applicable. The account number is non-transferable and should be available for inspection at the place of business until the business is closed or sold.
Taxpayers with questions regarding this notification should contact the Taxpayer Services Division at the Baton Rouge Headquarters Office, 617 N. Third St, and (225) 219-7318. They may also contact any of the following regional offices: Alexandria, 201 Johnson Street, Suite 100, (318) 487-5333; Baton Rouge (Regional Office), 8549 United Plaza Blvd., Suite 200, (225) 922-2300; Lafayette, 825 Kaliste Saloom Road, Brandywine III, Suite, 150, (337) 262-5455; Lake Charles, One Lakeshore Drive, Suite 1550, (337) 491-2504; Monroe, 122 St. John Street, Room 105, (318) 362-3151; New Orleans, 1555 Poydras Street, Suite 900, (504) 568-5233; Shreveport, 1525 Fairfield Avenue, (318) 676-7505; and Thibodaux, 1418 Tiger Drive, (985) 447-0976.
