BATON ROUGE – Parish E-File.com collected $67 million in sales tax revenues for state and local taxing authorities in the month of January, the Louisiana Department of Revenue announced Wednesday. This figure represents a pattern of strong, sustained growth as more businesses discover the convenience, security, and efficiency of online tax filing. In 2008, Parish E-File.com collected more than $100 million in revenues in its first three months of operation from October through December.
Parish E-File.com allows businesses to file sales and use tax returns, and remit sales tax collections, to state and local authorities entirely online.
“Parish E-File.com is one of the pillars of our electronic tax filing strategy,” said Secretary of Revenue Cynthia Bridges. “Online filing is a sound investment that benefits business filers, individual taxpayers, and the State of Louisiana.”
In the month of January alone, Parish E-File.com processed more than 31,500 sales and use tax returns for the state and its 68 parish authorities and local taxing districts.
“Every return processed electronically saves time and money not only for business owners, but also for state and local governments,” Bridges said.
Parish E-File is available at www.parishe-file.com, and also through Louisiana File Online, the web portal for the State of Louisiana’s online tax filing applications, which includes business and individual electronic income tax returns.
