LDR partners with OMV in Lake Charles to resolve driver’s license suspensions

October 1, 2024

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Revenue (LDR) is partnering with the state Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) in Lake Charles to help resolve driver’s license suspensions due to non-payment of taxes.

Because LDR has no office in Lake Charles at this time, tax officers are stationed at the OMV’s office there to clear driver’s license suspensions by accepting tax returns and payments, and establishing installment payment plans. This provides taxpayers in the Lake Charles area with a chance to restore their driving privileges in person without having to drive to an LDR regional office in Alexandria or Lafayette. Assistance is available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 951 Main Street, Lake Charles, LA 70615.

The LDR staff assigned to the Lake Charles OMV office cannot provide any taxpayer assistance beyond clearing driver’s licenses suspended for non-payment of taxes. Taxpayers are encouraged to email Income.Tax@La.Gov or Business.Tax@LA.Gov to help resolve matters via electronic assistance before visiting an office in person.
